David Barth

Mr. David Barth is the Director for Youth Opportunity and Learning at the Ford Foundation.  In this capacity he directs grant making in support of marginalized youth around the world.  Prior to joining the Ford Foundation, he spent over 20 years with the United States Agency for International Development in a number of capacities, including as Director of the Office of Education, Deputy Assistant Administrator for Public Affairs, Agency Deputy Chief of Staff and as Mission Director for Bosnia and Herzegovina, overseeing the US mission's efforts to promote social and economic development. He also spent over a decade working in the Middle East and North Africa, where he was director of the Office of Middle East Programs and regional legal advisor for Egypt, Yemen, Jordan, Morocco, and Lebanon.  Mr. Barth graduated with honors from Boston University and the National Law Center at George Washington University. He is the only foreign recipient of the tri-annual Silver Light Award in Bosnia and Herzegovina for altruism for his work with children and adults with disabilities.
