Brief Description of Program Activities

Trivselsprogrammet (TL) uses a peer leadership model to promote physical activity, empathy, and inclusivity in schools and to prevent bullying. In participating schools, students periodically elect peers whom they see as role models of respectful and caring behavior to be Activity Leaders. The Activity Leaders are then responsible for planning and leading inclusive activities at recess. There is also one teacher who serves as the designated TL Leader at the school and this teacher supports and guides the student Activity Leaders.

TL organizes participating schools into networks and provides training at the network level to student and teacher leaders. TL engages face-to-face with each network five times each year.

TL is now expanding the program to focus not only on recess, but also on academic courses. TL has developed subject-specific manuals and courses for teachers in how to promote playful and active learning throughout the school day.
